Lubang is a group of islands situated in Occidental Mindoro and off the deep waters of the Verde Island Passage. The four main islands in the group are Ambil, Cabra, Golo and Lubang, which is the largest island. Lubang group of Islands constitutes of two municipalities: Municipality of Lubang, occupies the western half of Lubang Island and Cabra, the eastern half of Lubang Island, Ambil, Golo and other small islets occupies the Municipality of Looc.
When the Malayans arrived in the island they found the original settlers eating in a family size wooden bowl known as "Lupang" from which, Lubang was lifted.
Lubang Group of Island has two sea ports: Port of Tilik, Lubang and Port of Agkawayan, Looc. They can be reached by pumpboats at Port of Calatagan with an average travel time of two and a half hours from Calatagan to Tilik/Agkawayan and vice-versa.
